Computer freezes are a symptom of an operating system that is in need of repair. When a computer experiences freeze ups or crashes, it is not likely the problem is with the computer itself. Freeze ups and such, are usually a software-based problem. In this article, we will talk about the genesis of computer freeze ups and how to deal with them.

Check your processes. If you click CTRL + ALT + Delete, that should bring up your current processes. If you see something that’s taking a lot of your systems resources see if that’s an application you need. If it’s not something you need, then uninstall it. If it is a program you need. Try to uninstall it and then reinstall it to see if it takes up less system resources. If that doesn’t work you can always try to find an alternative program that’s lighter and does the same thing.

Defrag the Disk Drives

It is recommended you not to work with your computer till the defragmentation process is finished.

Format your computer. This should be your last resort though. Make sure you back up everything you need before. You should also make sure you have a good copy of Windows so you can reinstall it without running in to any problems.
