There are a number of things that can be done to speed up XP. You don’t have to spend what feels like decades waiting for your computer to finally catch up and do what you need it to do. As Windows technology advances, there are more and more fixes and benefits being added that help keep your system running at peak performance. In addition, there are various programs added by default that help solve problems that once brought computer systems to a halt. There are a number of things you can do to solve your problem and here are 5 super simple ways to speed up XP that you can use right now.

1)Change your Virtual Memory Pagefile Size to Speed up Windows XP: Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select ‘Properties’. At the bottom of the screen, take a note of how much RAM you have. Then click on the ‘Advanced’ tab at the top and click on ‘Settings’ under the Performance section. You’ll then need to click on the ‘Advanced’ tab and click on ‘Change’ under the Virtual Memory section. Here is where you’ll need to select the ‘Custom’ radio button and enter in both the ‘Initial Size’ & ‘Maximum Size’ boxes with the number that you get when you do this quick calculation. The amount of RAM that you noted above multiplied by 2. E.g. If you have 2,024MB (equal to 2GB) of RAM, then you would enter 4,048 into both boxes. Then click OK->OK->OK to apply the new settings. You will need to reboot for the changes to take effect.

2)Disable Automatic Network Search to Speed up Windows XP: For this, you’ll need to open ‘My Computer’, select ‘Tools’ from the menu at the top of the Window and click on ‘Folder Options’. Select the ‘View’ tab and un-tick the box next to the line that says ‘Automatically search for network folders and printers’

3)Run Disk Defragmenter to Speed up Windows XP:This can be found in the start menu’s Accessories->System Tools folder. My advice would be to leave this running over night because it may take a while for it to complete.

If you still find it difficult to Speed up Windows XP, I highly recommend that you should run a best registry cleaner to make Windows XP faster again.
